December 29, 2024 price and inventory reductions

December 30, 2024

The latest prices and stocks as of December 29, 2024

Here are the updated prices and book stocks remaining as we approach the end of 2024. I had been keeping a few copies of each title in reserve for mail orders that had been trapped because of the postal strike. Now that the mails are moving again, I have released those saved copies into the overall totals (so a few titles show higher quantities available than they did last week).

As the last few copies of each book are being ordered, the prices have not changed since last week. There may be an update with new prices next week for whatever stocks remain.

What's new in terms of scarcity?

The Speed Graphics and Steam 1959! is now out of print. So is Speed Graphics and Steam 1958! vol. 2.

Notwithstanding the sellouts, I have two mint copies (signed for readers but returned) on hand of Speed Graphics and Steam 1958! vol. 2 and one copy (similarly) of Steam Through Port Credit. If you would like any of these, jump on them immediately by clicking the links in this paragraph. They are each available at a bit lower than original prices.

Thank you for the early paid subscriptions on Substack

I have not yet begun to produce new content for my Canadian Branchline Substack publication, but a number of readers have already purchased monthly or annual subscriptions. That is appreciated!

As for what is to come, I will start with 1950s steam movies for paying subscribers on the Canadian Branchline publication (with previews for non-paying subscribers). Also, I foresee doing some "deep dives" into steam-era train registers and reconstructing operations; this will be presented in articles. With the digital platform, I will be able to offer content not feasible for printed books (provided the interest is there).

The existing orders for inventory clearance will keep me busy for another week at least. Then it will be full steam ahead on the new content.

Other Substack publications

In addition to the Canadian Branchline Substack, there are two others set up, both of which will see regular updates in new content. One is called Creative Nonfiction; this is an in-depth description of the entire creative process behind writing and publishing the 29 books I have produced (so far).

The other is The King's Puzzle; this is the mystery novel revolving around the 1939 Royal Train in Canada, featuring Angus Wolfe and Amanda Webb, the two characters from The Secret of the Old Swing Bridge, but now teenagers. Click here to look over the blurb on my website for The King's Puzzle, which gives you some background (including a video summary).

Payment and delivery options

As usual, for any Canadian readers wishing to remit funds by Interact e-transfer, kindly use the weekly posted prices as a worksheet and contact me (by email) for a shipping quote. Then we’ll generate a total for monies owed and you can remit the funds while I package your publications for shipment.

For those readers wishing to remit funds by cheque/check, kindly contact me by email, indicating the titles you wish to receive, and I will set them aside pending arrival of your payment in the mail.

Two other things of note

With regard to family privacy, I am not able to accommodate book pickups at my home. I can only package and ship books to you.

Also, I have received from a couple of readers a written intention to purchase 'whatever you have left in stock', but without follow-through. If you want any of the remaining books, the only way to secure them is through payment (either PayPal or e-transfer or cheque/check).

This week’s prices and stocks remaining

These are the remaining books; grab what you can. This is the last official price adjustment, but there will be an update next Sunday (January 5, 2025). Each of the publication titles below is a clickable link, so for your convenience click on that link to go immediately to the page where you may place your order with a PayPal button:
